There are certain voices that seem to be hand-selected by God to sing Christmas music better than most others. While we could surely name a few of these musical chosen ones, Kelly Clarkson is a name that immediately rises to the top of that list.
Last year, Clarkson released her first ever Christmas compilation, Wrapped in Red, featuring the upbeat first single “Underneath the Tree” and the much acclaimed Reba-Trisha Yearwood-Clarkson collaboration on the ethereal “Silent Night.” In addition to an array of Christmas standards, the album features an impressive smattering of original songs, none more resounding that the album’s booming title track.
Inspired by the famous cue card moment in 2003’s Love Actually and a bit of her own life story, “Wrapped in Red” is an impassioned profession of love that shows Clarkson flexing her vocal muscles and impressive range.
The track was written by Clarkson, along with Ashley Arrison, Aben Eubanks and country hit-maker extraordinaire Shane McAnally, while the video was directed by Weiss Eubanks. It features Clarkson looking all kinds of old-school glamorous while cut in with home videos of various holiday scenes.
In addition to releasing her video for “Wrapped in Red,” Clarkson is just weeks away from hosting her first Christmas benefit concert, Miracle on Broadway, at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The show will feature performances by a bevy of Clarkson’s famous friends including Reba, Yearwood, Garth Brooks, Kacey Musgraves, Ronnie Dunn and more. Get more info on KC’s “Miracle” here.
