Chicago Got Fired Up With A Thousand Horses and Easton Corbin

On March 30, 2017, BIG 95.5 hosted a special concert event, Rise From The Fire at the eminent Joe’s Live in Rosemont, IL. The concert, sponsored by Jack Daniel’s, highlighted and praised some of our local first responders (including a surprise proposal by one gentleman) and featured two hours of stripped-down performances by A Thousand Horses and Easton Corbin. Check out these fiery highlights from the night!

A Thousand Horses kicked off the concert with a set of songs from their sophomore album, Southernality. Included in the set was a throwback cover of Travis Tritt’s “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)” which seemed to be a crowd-pleaser as everyone sang along and threw quarters on stage. Another fan favorite was their second single, “(This Ain’t No) Drunk Dial” which you can hear a clip of below.

Even without the energy from their dancers and full band, A Thousand Horses put on a riveting show. Their southern country-rock vocals shined in the acoustic format and the crowd was delighted. The highlight of their set was watching them perform their first single to debut on country radio, “Smoke.”

It was a pleasure to watch Easton Corbin perform many of the hit singles he has released to country radio over the years. His set packed a punch of energy, and was a refreshing reminder that country music still exists. During his time on stage, Easton Corbin admitted that he had wanted to release “Are You With Me” for years, and he was ecstatic that he finally got to release it last year. Here it is, live from Joe’s!

Another highlight of Easton Corbin’s set was when he lost a challenge that resulted in him performing a song he wasn’t uber-familiar with, and from a genre not his own. It goes without saying that even without his usually-present steel guitar and fiddle, Easton Corbin STILL put on an incredible countrified version of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself.” Listen!

I enjoy this type of show format because it allows the audience to focus on the artist for who they are, without excessive back-tracking or fancy LED lights – just a raw and real performance. An enormous thank you to the first responders, Joe’s Live staff, Big 95.5, Jack Daniels, and all involved in the production of this night!
