#BreakingTheIce with Dawson Edwards

Georgia native, Dawson Edwards, prides himself on being an up and coming artist. His cover songs continue to grow and he is learning the ropes as he goes. If you have haven’t heard of Dawson Edwards, you’re missing out.

Where are you answering these questions from?

From the front seat of my truck before I go into a write!

What’s your official title and favorite thing about what you do?

Singer/ Songwriter. Getting to create music with my best friends,  playing the live shows, traveling the country and meeting new people.

What are 3 things you CANNOT live without?

God, family and country music.

What’s the first concert you’ve ever attended?

The first one I can remember is Clay Walker. He played a show in my hometown at a place called The Forum. My mom ran the spotlights for the show and my dad took me, I was probably 5 or so.

How long have you been playing music?

Since I was 14, so about 7 years.

What’s the hardest life lesson you’ve learned?

If you are going to be dumb, you gotta be tough.

Do you have a favorite restaurant or hangout spot in music city?

Can’t go wrong with some Double Dogs with your buddy’s on a Saturday afternoon watching the dawgs play!

 Beer or whiskey?

Beer. Bush light.

Who is your favorite country singer from the 90s?

There’s so many to choose from.  Everyone loves King George obviously, but I’m also a huge Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt fan.

If you could duet with any female artist, who would you pick & why?

Ashley Monroe. No doubt.  I love her music and her voice kills me.

Do you have a favorite place to perform?

Anywhere in or near my hometown of Rome, Georgia!

What’s one gift you will never forget?

It wasn’t on a holiday, but my grandfather was my best friend and when he passed away my grandmother gave me his dog tags from when he was in the navy. I wear them around my neck every day.

What current event has your eyes and ears? What are you doing about it?

I do as many benefit shows as I can for all types of charities. Relay For Life is always a big one for me. It raises money for all cancer awareness and I’ve played it the past few years.

How do you think songwriters play a vital role in music today?

I think they play a huge role. If it wasn’t for songwriters there wouldn’t be any songs.

What’s one super power you wish you had?

To read people’s minds.

You’re making your favorite sandwich… what’s on it?

Whatever you got. I’m not picky!

Name one artist of any genre besides country that you are a fan of and tell us why?

Lynyrd Skynyrd is probably the first to come to mind. I love their music and being from the south it’s played any and everywhere you go. So you just kinda grow up on it.

What makes you laugh out loud?

It doesn’t take much to make me laugh. So just about anything.

Fill in the blank: It’s not a party until…

Someone plays “You Never Even Called Me By My Name” by David Allan Coe.

Fill in the blank: Country music has made me…

Follow my dreams, live life to the fullest, and find out what I’m made of.
