Country Artists Surf Big Waves at the #TeenChoice Awards

We have been saying this for quite some time, but the 2014 Teen Choice Awards lent credence to our opinions — country music has truly made its way into mainstream entertainment with no signs of slowing down. On Sunday, August 10th, the Teen Choice Awards proved fruitful for country music as a whole, as one artist took home awards outside of music and several others carried home coveted surfboards in country music-specific categories.

It should come as no surprise that country music newcomer and television phenomenon, Lucy Hale, left the Teen Choice Awards with a couple of awards to add to her collection. Lucy’s hit ABC Family show, Pretty Little Liars, was named Choice TV Show: Drama, while Lucy was crowned Choice TV Actress: Drama.

In the country music categories, there were no true shocking award winners, but all quite deserving. The following will be showing off new, shiny surfboards on the lakes and rivers of Nashville, Tennessee: Hunter Hayes (Choice Male Country Artist); Taylor Swift (Choice Female Country Artist); Lady Antebellum (Choice Country Group); and “This Is How We Roll,” Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan (Choice Country Song).

Congratulations to everyone who made country music proud at the Teen Choice Awards! Check out some videos below by this year’s Teen Choice Award winners:
