Eli Young Band and Tyler Rich Captivated Chicago in Sold-Out Show at Joe’s on Weed

Joe’s on Weed Street in Chicago, Illinois, was home to another sold-out show featuring Eli Young Band headling, with Tyler Rich as the opener, on July 27, 2018. This was a stand-out night with two spunky* artists providing a night full of captivating entertainment.

Tyler Rich has been named a CMT Listen Up Artist, and after watching him perform at Joe’s, I can see why. His set contained some fiery new songs, such as “Adrenaline,” as well as unique cover choices sprinkled into his set. What stood out most in his cover songs was “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers, which seemed to be a popular choice with the audience as well. Check out this live clip!

“The Difference” was the number one song on Sirius XM’s The Highway and has been streamed over 11 million times on Spotify. Though it was written by hit songwriters Rhett Akins, Devin Dawson, Ben Burgess, and Jacob Durett, Rich sings the song with passion as if he wrote it himself; likely because it epitomizes the essence of his relationship with his fiance, Sabina Gadecki.

Once the headliners, Big Machine Label Group’s Eli Young Band, took the stage, the crowd roared with excitement. One stand-out moment of the night was when the 2012 ACM Song of The Year, “Crazy Girl,” was played. It has that “wow” factor that every artist dreams to achieve when they release their singles. The way the band comes alive when they perform together is truly intoxicating and can be seen in full effect during songs like this.

The EYB set was exceptional from the first song to the encore. I don’t know about you, but I’m always immediately inspired while listening to their number one single, “Even if it Breaks Your Heart,” Hearing it live at Joe’s was an incredible experience because you could feel the pulse of the audience in the voices singing along.

I especially respect Eli Young Band for how much they’re involved in the writing of their own music. This brings an intimacy to songs that is unparalleled and is showcased in songs like “Skin and Bones,” which was written by lead singer Mike Eli, alongside Lori McKenna and Phil Barton. It was inspired by Eli’s relationship with his wife, Kacey, and it is simply beautiful.

Together, Tyler Rich and Eli Young Band captivated and WOW’d the crowd at Joe’s on Weed St. and made for quite the lineup. Could they be possible tour partners in the future? They certainly have my vote!
