[email protected] & @ChrisStapleton Pay Tribute to @LukeBryanOnline #DrinkABeer #CMTAOTY

Luke Bryan and his family suffered a devastating loss last week when Bryan’s brother-in-law, Ben Lee Cheshire, passed away unexpectedly. Cheshire was the husband of Luke’s late sister, Kelly, who died tragically in 2007. Bryan was been forced to deal with enormous loss, even pre-dating that of his sister. His brother, Chris, also passed away in 1996 from injuries sustained during a car accident.

Bryan recorded his hit song “Drink a Beer,” an emotional track that was written by Jim Beavers and Chris Stapleton and one that Bryan could easily and unfortunately empathize with all to well, to honor the memory of his siblings. Though time has passed, Bryan still mourns their untimely deaths, explaining the holes their absences have left in his family.

I don’t like it. I don’t like that my sons are missing that side of my family. But someone else is deciding things.

When the unexplainable happened again in the Bryan/Cheshire family, Bryan didn’t think twice about canceling his upcoming appearances, including the one at which he would receive the honor of a CMT Artist of the Year. However, when you are Luke Bryan and have touched the lives of so many around you, fans and peers alike, other artists are on hand to make sure your honor is preserved, even in your absence.

Co-writer of “Drink a Beer,” Stapleton, and good friends Lady Antebellum undertook the tall order of delivering Bryan’s gut-wrenching song off his Crash My Party album, dedicating it to their friend and sending their love to the grieving family. The quartet did a beautiful job delivering the sentimental ballad to the live and television audiences, rendering a heartfelt response from Bryan on social media.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Bryan/Cheshire family during this difficult time.
