Peoples Choice Awards: Country Music Style

The Peoples Choice Awards aired last night in an eclectic, entertaining show. Hosts Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs kept the party moving along nicely with their sarcastic (Kat) ditzy (Beth) wit that has a magnetic nature to it. Like their show, its a train wreck you simply can’t turn away from.

Country music had its turn in the spotlight. Country princess, Taylor Swift took home an award for Favorite Country Artist. Long time favorite, Tim McGraw, won an award for Country Music Icon. Neither were present to accept the awards.

Brad Paisley gave an energetic performance of his latest hit, Mona Lisa. Brad sang Mona Lisa with a full band and a guitar adorned with…..wait for it…..paisleys. He has a way of engaging the audience and pulling them in to his stage shows. He did that quite literally when he grabbed someones phone and snapped a quick picture. The crowd responded and he left the stage with a standing ovation.

The opening monologue started with the hosts, who play waitresses in the hit show 2 Broke Girls, taking food orders from audience members. Our own Brad Paisley ordered….. a burger and flies. Flies? He later tweeted about the mistake. It got a laugh and the only irony comes in that he messed up 1 line here but pulls off 3 hours of monologue flawlessly every year at the CMAs.

All in all, it was a great time. Taylor and Tim left with awards. Heidi Klum left with Brad’s cowboy hat. Fans left laughing.
