EP Review: The Swon Brothers – Timeless

The Swon Brothers are starting off 2016 by going on tour and their fans will get a chance to hear new music live. But, if you can’t wait, check out their new six-song EP, Timeless. Zach and Colton Swon wrote all six songs on the EP, which is a follow-up to their self-titled, debut album that included their smash hit “Later On.”

The Swon Brothers understand how to make a girl feel extra special on the first track “Just Another Girl.” With lyrics like “She ain’t just another night, just another kiss, just another line, just another drink, just a good time, she ain’t just another girl.” they say exactly what every girl wants her man to think about her. They encourage the guy “If you find a keeper then keep her, lock it down boy don’t leave her, love her like you’re always gonna need her.” It has a great beat and a catchy chorus that will stick in your head for days.

They slow it down and show some R&B flare with “Nobody.” This song is just so damn sexy. It explains how you feel when you are in a great relationship and you just “get” each other. I melt every time I hear the line “Baby if you ever wonder how I really feel, have you ever loved somebody so much time stands still.” Everyone wants to be in that kind of relationship. I can see couples slow dancing to this song on dance floors all over.

The next two songs take you back to a different time in music. “Throwback” does just that – throws you back in time and gets your head bopping as you reminisce down memory lane and sing “A little sha-la-la-la on the radio.” The title track “Timeless” is a fun song that talks about an old school, classic girl with lyrics like “She’s got a cover girl style in her Levi jeans, movie star swagger off a silver screen, always shining like a diamond, that girl she’s timeless.” There’s a ticking clock in the background that adds to the retro feel and the clock ticks to end the song perfectly.

“Killing Me” is my favorite song on the EP. The Swons have been performing this song live for a while and they mention that it’s about that one person who, even though you know they are bad for you, you still keep going back to them. They sing in the chorus: “You’re killing me tonight, it’s like you thought this through, you planned the perfect crime, now I’ve got my fingerprints all over you, so lay me down, mess me up, girl you knock me out with every single touch, you’re killing me killing me.” The Swons are known for their brotherly harmonies and they definitely shine on this track.

The final song “You Got Somebody” draws on several different musical influences. It starts out with a slow beat then picks up as they try to win over the girl who seemingly can get anyone she wants.

The Swon Brothers’ music is a little country, a little rock, a little R&B and a lot Swon. Their songs lift you up and make you feel something special or get your feet tapping and your body dancing. Catch them on The Storyteller Tour with Carrie Underwood starting late January, 2016 and add Timeless to your music collection.
