Touring Business Reaches All Time High For Revenue

Holy cow! We keep saying it, but country music had it’s biggest year by far in 2013. And it’s star’s seemed to have benefitted. New data from Pollstar is estimating that the total North American touring business hit an all-time high in 2013 by raking in $5.1 billion in revenue. When you look at this figure and compare it to that of 2000’s revenue of $1.7 billion, it’s mind-boggling.

Compared to 2012, just the Top 100 tours in North America went up 9.2% in tickets sold for a total of over 40 million in sales. As for the revenue brought in by those 40+ million was a staggering $2.79 billion which is a 10.3% increase. Average ticket prices were $69.52 which was a 1.1% increase since 2012.

Taylor Swift was the country music superstar to take home the top spot in 2013 by earning $112.7 from touring, topping her own 2011 record to become the top grossing country tour in history. Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean round out the top three spots.
